The bite continues to improve on Lake Vermilion! While the bite isn’t easy yet, Justin and Bill are putting in the work to put you on quality fish!
EAST END WALLEYES: The best bite for numbers continues to be the top edges of holes in 20-30 feet of water. Dragging a Lindy Rig with a rainbow minnow or a Jumbo Leech at 0.5-0.7mph has been the best way to put these fish in the boat. Sand to mud transitions in 16-25 feet have produced bigger fish Lindy Rigging than the sides of the holes.
The biggest fish of all on the east side are being caught on structure in 5 to 15 feet of water. While not easy to get to bite, we have been able to get some with a slip-bobber and a leech, or a 1/16oz jig with a leech, crawler, or rainbow minnow.
WEST END WALLEYES: The best bite on the west side for numbers has been in 25-30 feet of water on rock to mud or sand to mud transitions. Dragging a Lindy Rig with a rainbow minnow or jumbo leech has been the best way to get these fish to bite.
Much like the east end, the biggest fish are on structure in 5 to 15 feet. A slip-bobber and a leech or a 1/16oz tungsten jig with a leech, crawler, or minnow has been the best way to get these fish to bite.
