08/04/25 Lake Vermilion Fishing Report

Another great week of fishing on Vermilion! We caught fish almost every way this week.

EAST END WALLEYES: The best pattern for us seems to be teetering back and forth depending on the day and the weather patterns. In some way, shape or form, our fish are relating to the rocks.

Somedays they are on the tops in 10 to 15 feet and can be fished with a jig and a crawler or a slip-bobber and a leech. Other days, they will slide to the bottoms in 14 to 20 feet and can be fished with a Lindy Rig or a Spinner with a crawler or a leech.

We have busted out the Leadcore rods a couple of times already as well. These fish are in mud basins in 17-27 feet of water. We use advanced Leadcore that falls 7 feet per color and we usually pull our baits at 2.5 miles per hour.

There has been a good bite on the main-lake sand in 15 to 25 feet, particularly in the early morning hours. Drag a Lindy Rig and a crawler or a spinner and a crawler to target these fish.

WEST END WALLEYES: Our west end fish are relating to rocks as well. The best depths have been 14 to 25 feet and the fish are best targeted with a jig and a leech or a jig and a crawler.

Somedays they will slide to the bottoms as well in 20-25 feet. Target the fish on the bottoms with a Lindy Rig or a Spinner just like the east end fish.

We have caught fish every method this week! While they have been moving a lot, once you hone in on them, they have been biting!

Justin has two open dates left in August – the 19th and 22nd! Afternoon trips are available as well. Give him a shout at 218-820-0335 to snap up the remaining trips or book online.
