9/19/24 Lake Vermilion Fishing Report

The unusually warm fall has caused some crazy things to happen on Lake Vermilion, which has caused a good, but really strange bite!

EAST END WALLEYES: The fish are all over the place. You can grind out your limit pulling Leadcore, that is for sure. Focus your efforts on 20-30 foot mud basins. Some things to think about when choosing your Leadcore spot is to look at areas that haven’t been fished as hard and to consider areas that are close to good fall spots.

There are also a number of fish that have slid up shallower, back to their July locations. Focus on 17-26’ sand and gravel bars with a Lindy Rig and a crawler or a 10-15’ rock pile with a slip-bobber and a leech or crawler.

WEST END WALLEYES: The leadcore bite on the west end continues to be sporadic. Some days it is very good, and other days you can’t buy a bite. Target mud basins in 25-32 feet of water for the best bet at a good bite.

A lot of fish on the west side have slid up shallower with the unseasonably warm weather pattern as well. 15-20 foot sand bars and 10-15 foot rock piles are also worth a look.

SMALLMOUTH BASS: Fishing continues to be excellent along the 6-15 foot chunk rock shorelines and mid-lake rock piles. Cast ned rigs, swim-baits, football jigs, or a slip-bobber with live bait at these fish!

Fall weather is finally approaching! It’s a great time to be at beautiful Lake Vermilion – book your trip today!
